Procurement diagnostics – Diagnostics include key stakeholder interviews with relevant consulting and procurement management tools and processes to identify issues in or with procurement, and propose solutions to issues and plans for delivery that are socialised and agreed with key stakeholders
Opportunity assessments – A number of consulting and procurement tools and processes are used to identify cost savings potential and supply chain improvement opportunities
Transformational strategic sourcing strategies – Comprehensive sourcing strategies are created by gathering, analysing and interpreting data collected in procurement diagnostics and opportunity assessments
Supply chain risk assessment, mitigation and management – Full Kraljic and supplier positioning matrices, Porters 5 forces, PESTEL and SPOF analyses and interpretations identify supply chain risks and opportunities, and recommend solutions
Category management, preparation, training and rollout – Move from transactional procurement function typically at arm’s length with its internal stakeholders and external suppliers to a more capable and better performing strategic one, delivering against clearly targeted corporate objectives
Creative and innovative sourcing for business recovery and growth – I am experienced in E2E service and manufacturing sector start-ups, in business recovery and in helping to drive substantial growth in many organisations. These programmes typically identify and drive delivery of top and bottom-line growth opportunities, often supporting business exit strategies
Identification of substantial and commercially sustainable cost savings – Working with the procurement team, their key internal customers, and the supply chain, this project engages a number of consulting and procurement tools and techniques to identify and prioritise cost saving opportunities. I can leave you to deliver the opportunities, or preferably stay on to assist and guide delivery
SRM and economic, environmental and socially sustainable supply chains – Avoid accusations of greenwashing and achieve a genuinely sustainable balance between the SE&E impact your business and its supply chain is having in the marketplace. Modern SRM strategies increasingly challenge suppliers to tangibly measure and report on their SE&E impact with targets included in supplier SLAs and KPIs, and therefore in contracts
Contracts appraisal, compliance and management – Current contracts are reviewed to determine whether they are fit-for-purpose against current and future business needs. Compliance gaps are identified and targets to close them recommended. Projects would normally include new overall contract negotiations, incorporating new service levels agreements (SLAs), and new key performance indicators (KPIs) within a new and clear SRM strategy
Supply chain realignment and re-energising to meet corporate objectives – These programmes address broken or arm’s length supplier relationships that are generally adding little, if any creative or innovative value to the business. Stakeholder interviews and a number of consulting tools and techniques are deployed to gather and analyse information before engaging with suppliers to take on their views and experiences of working with your company. New synergies and mutually beneficial opportunities are identified and facilitation expertise ensures that new behaviours and relationships are formed to deliver new value. Most if not all suppliers relish the new opportunities to develop their client accounts, but some cannot, or will not realign, and maintenance or professional replacement strategies are designed for them
Staff assessment, benchmarking, development, training and recruitment – This consultation involves a current staff capability assessment benchmarked against market norms and recommends plans for their improvement through mentoring, training and on-the-job coaching. This service can run as a stand-alone project, but is always included as part of the continuous improvement process in transitioning from transactional procurement functions to strategic
Policies, procedures, governance and compliance – Initial work assesses the current validity of existing procurement policies and procedures against practice, and against the changing or emerging needs of the business. Original drafts, refreshers or rewrites are completed as and when appropriate, and corrective actions are identified and managed through to pull practice back in line with current policies and procedures to achieve compliance. Key governance criteria are identified, socialised and agreed to assist in managing the processes and procedures to achieve continuous compliance
Delivery of transformational sourcing strategy recommendations – end to end – Transformational delivery leadership or support in implementation of the recommendations of some or all of the Consulting Projects as appropriate. Where appropriate, this project also seeks to interrogate and where appropriate incorporate modern technology improvement options, upgrades or enhancements
Delivery of the recommendations for any of the individual consulting projects – This is a consulting project approved for planning for and implementing its or their recommendations
Team leadership to cover vacancies, absence or parental leave – Experienced, agile and motivational function lead or support to cover and ensure that things continue to move forward
Experienced support to the current procurement team – Transformational projects are often big, in need of simplification, and under time pressure for their delivery. Extra senior and temporary support to the CPO or the board is often invaluable.
