With multi-sector and industry experience, an expert negotiator and influencer, and a skill for encouraging organisations, and training individuals and teams to achieve their potential, I build trust and confidence through robust working relationships, and a flexible outcome focused attitude towards transformational change and creation of new business value through procurement.
With extensive business, sectors, industries and board experience, sometimes working for, other times working with, and also time running my own companies – usually through good times, sometimes bad, and always with a ‘can do – proactive style’, I can add value to your company and to your board of directors.
As an employee, a 'Big 4' trained consultant, an outsourced procurement provider or as an independent interim, I have added value working for, or working in more than 30 companies, and in as many different industries in the manufacturing and service sectors, predominantly in the private, but also in the public sector.
Every company said that "it is different here", and it was, but everyone had internal stakeholder and external customer frustrations and challenges, supplier issues, be they alignment, capability, and/or performance, and they spend money on materials, products or services or on a combination of the three.
A skilled practitioner, I drive new value from procurement for any shape or sized organisation in any industry and any sector. I have worked successfully for multi-billion pounds companies, for some turning over single figure millions per annum, and for many in-between.
1. To listen, and to start to learn about your business, your industry, your markets, your stakeholders, your suppliers, your customers, your spend, and your team
2. At top level, to get a grasp of the issues or challenges, and to what you are trying to achieve

To get underway - to meet and listen to the key stakeholders, key suppliers if appropriate, key customers if appropriate, of course the current team too, to understand the culture, and if for example the task is a full transformation project - to deep dive into the data - to categorise the spend, who and how many suppliers by spend category, why those suppliers, how often they supply and to understand how they perform against any contracts and against expectations
6. The data and other information gathered informs the sourcing or project strategy which is socialised amongst key stakeholders as appropriate, written up, and submitted for approval and for a mandate for change
